Fun book that reads quickly because of the cute rhymes and the story is also a great idea. Children and kids follow along as Jake goes to a doctor thinking he will find a way to trick the man into giving treatment and then returning payment if Jake says he isn't cured. The doctor is very smart and their are a few lessons in this fun story which includes wonderful illustrations Always something special in a story by this author.Product details

The beautiful Israeli children's books author, Sigal Adler, just keeps adding to her now rather impressive number of books for children. Each of her books was written in Hebrew and as they became best sellers in Israel she decided to have them translated into English to benefit an even broader range of children. Rivka Strauss is the translator and manages in translation to keep the flow of Sigal's rhyming style delightful. The stories are not only entertaining but they also carry some subtle messages to those children fortunate enough to read them - or have they read to them. The books are enhanced by one of the top illustrator/artists of the day - Abira Das, always a welcome sight when reading new stories.
This is Book 6 in Sigal’s series Uncle Jake Series – a very entertaining and funny ongoing set of tales about grumpy Uncle Jake. In this story Uncle Jake is ordered by his doctor to exercise and stay fit instead of just watching TV. One day on his walk ne notices an advertisement for a ‘Specialist Doctor’ who for $50. can solve any problem (and if the doctor can’t solve the problem he will pay the patient $100.!). Jake waits in line, tells the doctor he can’t taste, the doctor offers him some green drops which make Uncle Jake gag, and then charges Jake $50 for bringing back his taste. Frustrated, Uncle Jake figures a way to get his money back and the next day he visits the doctor again, claiming he has lost his memory. The doctor asks the nurse to get the green drops and Jake shouts his distaste for yesterday’s potion – and presto! according to the doctor his memory is back. Jake thought and the next day he re-visited the doctor, claiming his sight was gone. The doctor asked the nurse to give Jake the $50. but Jake noticed the money was $20 - the doctor won again saying Jake’s sight was restored – and Jake ends up paying the doctor for all three visits, leaving him frustrated but sleepy and he just goes to bed, having tried to outsmart the doctor unsuccessfully.
Sigal has a fine sense of humor and a keen observation of behaviors that can simply get out of hand – if we don’t pause to think. Another fine book By Sigal Adler. Grady Harp, February 17

Not a high quality story in my opinion. I don't like the rhyming either. I wouldn't recommend this book or buy it again.
I really like the rhyming words in the uncle books. My daughter has learned a lot of words from them.
I enjoy her children's ebooks as they have great value in them for kids nowadays. So ,I wish to recommend this,for five stars as well for those ages 2-7. I received this for free using KU and in return , here now is my honest review. Super job Sigal ! By Angela
